About this bill
Ensure wheelchair users equal access to air travel
MPs Remi Sølvberg, Sofie Marhaug and Geir Jørgensen have introduced a proposal to strengthen the rights of wheelchair users to fly. The proposers argue that wheelchair users are currently denied transport due to weight and size limits that vary between airlines, violating both EEA rules and Norway's obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). They are calling on the government to introduce legislation clarifying that general weight restrictions cannot be applied without concrete safety justification, and that airlines must bear the burden of proof when denying transport.
