MPs seek reforms to cut waiting times for hearing care
Four MPs have tabled a proposal to reduce waiting times for hearing aid assessment and fitting. The proposers argue that waits of up to two years are unacceptable, and attribute the problem to a shortage of clinical audiologists and structural bottlenecks in the system. They contend that regulatory changes—including reimbursement rights for audiologists and expanded roles in municipal health services—are necessary to deliver the government's hearing aid guarantee.
