Compensation scheme for businesses unable to switch from fossil fuels
MPs Geir Inge Lien, Geir Pollestad, and Siv Sætran propose that the government return to the Storting by spring 2027 with a compensation scheme for the CO₂ tax for businesses lacking the means to transition away from fossil energy. The proposers argue that many Norwegian companies face significant challenges from rising CO₂ taxes, and that some have no access to alternative energy sources or face prohibitively high transition costs.
