MPs urge government to extend 2G network shutdown timeline
Six MPs have submitted a proposal to delay the phase-out of Norway's 2G mobile network. The proposers argue that shutting down 2G will render automatic emergency call systems (eCall) in up to 700,000 cars inoperable, potentially increasing fatal traffic accidents based on available research. They contend the government has not adequately assessed the consequences and call for a thorough investigation before the network is deactivated.
