MPs seek stronger protection and sustainable management of natural forests
Four MPs are proposing measures to strengthen protections for Norway's natural forests and make forestry more sustainable. The proposers argue that natural forests have particular value for endangered species, and that clear-cutting destroys ecosystems. The proposal asks the government to impose a temporary ban on clear-cutting in natural forests, establish stricter environmental requirements for forestry, and give municipalities greater control over land use.
