Halt planned cuts to phosphorus limits in fertilizer regulations
Seven MPs have introduced a proposal calling on the government to suspend further reductions to phosphorus limits in the fertilizer regulations beyond 3.5 kg per dekar until the consequences have been calculated and documented. The proposers argue that the new fertilizer regulations taking effect in January 2025 will increase costs, reduce food production, and could force farmers to shut down operations.
