Switching tourist tax from percentage to fixed per-person rate
MPs Harry Valderhaug, Ida Lindtveit Røse, and Jorunn Gleditsch Lossius propose replacing the percentage-based visitor tax with a fixed amount per person per night. The proposers argue that a flat rate will cut administrative costs for Norwegian tourism businesses, treat hotel and cruise ship guests equally, and increase municipal revenue compared to the current percentage model.
