MPs seek to preserve highways 85 and 83 as national roads
Six MPs have submitted a proposal to keep National Road 85 and National Road 83 as national highways after the opening of Hålogalandsvegen. The proposers argue that downgrading sections of Road 85 to county road status would result in lower priority, reduced investment, and increased pressure on county budgets—consequences they say would harm business and settlement in Vesterålen and Lofoten.
