Foreign Affairs Committee rejects proposal to raise frigate KNM Bergen
MPs Geir Jørgensen, Hanne Beate Stenvaag, and Remi Sølvberg proposed raising the wreck of the frigate KNM Bergen, which sank during a weapons test in autumn 2025 and now rests 125 meters deep off Andøya. The proposers argue that raising the vessel is necessary for environmental and fishing industry reasons. The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence recommends rejecting the proposal, though members from the Socialist Left Party, Red Party, and Green Party have tabled a minority motion to raise the frigate.
