Standing Committee on Business and Industry reviews natural disaster compensation reform
MPs Geir Pollestad, Trygve Slagsvold Vedum, Bengt Fasteraune, Erling Sande, and Ole Herman Sveian have proposed a review and overhaul of the state's natural disaster compensation scheme. The proposers argue the system needs streamlining, faster case processing, greater local administration, and better coverage of preventive measures. Members from Labour, the Progress Party, the Conservative Party, Red, the Green Party, and the Christian Democratic Party recommended rejecting the main proposal, while members from the Socialist Left, the Centre Party, Red, the Green Party, and the Christian Democratic Party submitted separate proposals on municipal information, the role of the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate, protective measures, and co-payment levels.
