Committee weighs equal loss limits for bingo across all venues
MPs Maren Grøthe and Erling Sande have proposed equalizing loss limits and operating conditions for bingo in independent halls with those at Norsk Tipping, the state gambling operator. The proposers argue that tighter rules introduced in autumn 2025—setting daily loss limits of 900 kroner and monthly limits of 4,400 kroner for independent bingo halls, compared to 4,000 daily and 7,500 monthly at Norsk Tipping—undermine the revenue base of volunteer organizations. A committee majority (Labour Party, Socialist Left Party, Green Party, and Christian Democratic Party) recommends rejecting the proposal, citing evidence that lower loss limits are necessary to prevent gambling addiction, particularly because online bingo is classified as high-risk.
