Committee recommends rejecting original smoking cessation bill
A private member's bill from Ida Lindtveit Røse, Georg Gulli, and Jonas Andersen Sayed proposes a national smoking cessation programme at no cost to the state. The Standing Committee on Health and Care Services recommends the Storting reject this proposal, though MPs from multiple parties have tabled alternative bills calling for a national smoking cessation programme funded through increased tobacco taxes, as well as proposals for nicotine-free snus and changes to how nicotine products are approved.
