Culture Committee urges government to study VAT relief for nonprofit cultural buildings
MPs Erling Sande, Maren Grøthe, and Kjersti Toppe have proposed improved funding conditions for nonprofit-owned cultural buildings. The Standing Committee on Culture recommends the government investigate a dedicated VAT compensation scheme for such buildings to cover upgrades, modernization, energy efficiency improvements, and universal design. The committee notes that around 5,500 nonprofit-owned cultural buildings across Norway serve as vital gathering places for voluntary organizations, many facing significant maintenance backlogs.
