Committee recommends rejecting settlement restrictions for immigrants
MPs Erlend Wiborg, Helge André Njåstad, Rune Midtun and Bjørn Larsen proposed tighter settlement policies, including settlement freezes in municipalities where non-Western immigrants make up more than 15 percent of the population. The Standing Committee on Municipal and General Administration recommends the Storting reject the proposal, but committee members put forward several alternative proposals focusing on better integration, preventing unwanted secondary settlement, and assessing the child's best interests when families relocate.
