Storting debates government agenda on sustainable development goals
The Standing Committee on Municipal and Regional Affairs is reviewing the government's report on Norway's progress toward the UN's sustainable development goals by 2030. A majority of the committee (Labour Party, Socialist Left Party, Centre Party, Red Party, and Green Party) backs the government's approach and says the report provides a solid foundation for further work. A separate majority (members from Labour, Progress Party, Conservative Party, and Centre Party) proposes giving municipalities greater autonomy in land use and nature management. Progress Party members propose cutting red tape in public procurement and boosting investment in science and mathematics education and digitalization. Socialist Left and Red Party members propose strengthening integration efforts in municipalities.
