About this bill
Bill to scrap studded tyre fee sent to parliament
The Standing Committee on Transport and Communications is considering a private member's bill from six MPs to eliminate the studded tyre fee. Two Progress Party members among the sponsors are asking the government to repeal the fee regulation and amend the Road Traffic Act to prevent such fees from being introduced, while a Centre Party member has tabled a separate proposal to exempt commercial traffic from the fee. The committee recommends that parliament reject the bill.
