Committee rejects proposal to ease rules on temporary labour
The Standing Committee on Labour and Social Affairs has considered a private member's bill from seven MPs seeking to relax rules on hiring temporary workers. A majority from the Labour Party, Socialist Left Party, and Red Party recommends rejecting the proposal, citing evidence that the 2023 tightening of these rules has reduced temporary hiring and increased permanent employment. A minority from the Progress Party and Conservative Party has put forward four alternative proposals asking the government to restore the rules as they stood before 2023.
