Foreign Affairs Committee examines bill on Ukraine support
The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence is reviewing a private member's bill from MPs Guri Melby, Abid Raja, and Grunde Almeland calling for stronger Norwegian support to Ukraine. The bill requests the government increase aid to 170 billion kroner, permit military support through the Nansen Programme to Ukrainian volunteer organisations, strengthen sanctions enforcement, and end Norwegian exemptions from EU sanctions on Russia. The committee has issued its own recommendation on direct civilian support to Ukrainian organisations, along with several minority proposals from different party coalitions with varying levels of ambition.
